Disability Alliance BC

About the Service

Disability Alliance BC is a cross disability organization that champions disability issues through systemic advocacy, publications, and direct service supports. Our core programming provides navigational support through BC and federal government benefits, tax filling, accessible housing, and human rights based legal issues. For one of our programs, Access RDSP, we work in partnership with Plan Institute and BCANDS to promote and guide individuals through opening a Registered Disability Savings Plan (RDSP)—a long-term savings plan and poverty reduction strategy that can help individuals gain financial security in their later life. The RDSP is a long-term savings designed to help people with disabilities save for their financial futures. The RDSP is most beneficial to those under 49 because people can access up to $90,000 in free government contributions to help grow financial security. More benefits include: • No minimum age requirement, and can be opened if you are 59 or younger • Exempt from all federal and most provincial/territorial disability/income support programs • Government contributions available up to age 49, even for those with little to no money to put into the RDSP • Room for up to $200,000 in personal contributions and unlimited growth potential Nearly half of the people who qualify for the RDSP have never heard of it, so it is our mission to ensure that everyone eligible is able to access this important financial tool. Call us at 604-872-1278 or email us at rdsp@disabilityalliancebc.org.
